Ukrainians in Germany: Protection Until March 2027 and Work

Temporary protection for people from Ukraine in the EU has been extended to 4 March 2027. Here is what it means for your work in Germany.

What applies now

The EU has extended temporary protection to 4 March 2027. The residence permit under §24 AufenthG is kept valid accordingly. With this status you may work in Germany; a separate employment permit from the foreigners authority is usually not needed.

What to keep ready

  • a valid passport or substitute document;
  • your residence permit or confirmation (Fiktionsbescheinigung);
  • tax ID and social security number;
  • proof of qualifications and previous work.

Finding work

Anyone who already has valid documents for Europe can start quickly. What matters is an official employment contract, social insurance registration and pay of at least the €13.90 minimum wage.

At DLP24

We work with officially employed and posted workers. Accommodation, workwear and transport are provided. We do not work with workers from Russia or with sanctioned persons.
